OUR PRINCIPAL BENEFICIARIES
BC Orca Bursary Program, at the Belonging Network
The Belonging Network (formerly Adoptive Families Association of BC) provides support, learning, and connection for adoptive and permanency families and youth in and from government care. There are more than 5,000 children and youth government care, such as foster care in BC, and over 1,100 youth age out of care each year – 46% of whom are Indigenous. The Belonging Network is focused on providing them with critical supports as they transition to adulthood- including our AgedOut.com website, Stepping Stones life skills curriculum, and bursary programs. The BC Orca Program is our largest bursary program, created by Tracey McVicar and a group of philanthropic families, to enable more youth from care to pursue post-secondary studies and reach their full potential.
